SafeView™ DNA Stains
Safer than ethidium bromide
SafeView™ products are a new class of fluorescent nucleic acid stains for the detection of double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA and RNA in agarose gel electrophoresis. Four formulations are available, including green or red fluorescence and gel-casting or loading dye formats, making them compatible for any experimental preference or setup!
SafeView™ products were designed to replace toxic Ethidium bromide (EtBr) in the laboratory and are non-carcinogenic by the Ames-test. The results are negative in both the mouse marrow chromophilous erythrocyte micronucleus and mouse spermatocyte chromosomal aberration tests.

Our SafeView™ products are classified into two categories:
1. Loading Dye:
This convenient 6X format includes a mixture of the proprietary nucleic acid stain and inert tracking dyes. Simply add Safe-Green™ or Safe-Red™ directly to your sample and load onto an unstained agarose gel.
2. Pre-cast and Post-Stain:
This format can be used to replace your Ethidium bromide workflow completely. SafeView™ Classic or Safe-Red™ Gel is either added into the molten agarose during set up or can be used as a post-stain following electrophoresis.

More sensitive than ethidium bromide
SafeView™ Classic is more sensitive than ethidium bromide. Two-fold serial dilution of abm’s 1kb Plus Opti-DNA Marker (Cat. No. G248) was visualized using SafeView™ Classic and ethidium bromide under the same conditions (1% agarose gel in TAE Buffer, SafeViewER™ Imager).
SafeView™ Classic is free of DNA migration issues that plague other dyes. Two-fold serial dilution of abm’s 1kb Plus Opti-DNA Marker (Cat. No. G248) was visualized using SafeView™ Classic on a 1% agarose gel in TAE Buffer with the SafeViewER™ Imager.
