Recombinant Human Serum Albumin

Description | Human serum albumin (HSA) is the serum albumin found in human blood, constituting about half of serum protein. Albumin transports hormones, fatty acids and other compounds, buffers pH, and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume among other functions. Thus, it is ideal as a carrier protein to be added into cytokine solutions to increase the stability and shelf-life of the protein, to replace the use of animal originated bovine serum albumin which quite frequently increases the endotoxin level of the resulting solution. As a cell culture media supplement, it can promote cell growth and increase recombinant protein production. Recombinant Human Serum Albumin expressed in human 293 cells is a glycosylated monomer with a molecular mass of 60 to 65 kDa. |
